Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, the city’s most storied black high school, has seen changing student demographics in recent years. If trends continue, Lincoln Prep will no longer be majority black by the fall of 2019.

Kansas City Public Schools placed a staff member from Lincoln College Prep on administrative leave after the employee allegedly sent inappropriate communications to a student.
On Monday, June 17, 2019, the Kansas City Chiefs rookie class, alumni and staff visited Lincoln College Preparatory Academy to kick off the “NFL Huddle for 100” campaign.
They painted railings, put some new mulch and put decals on football helmets. They also announced a partnership with the NFL Foundation, LISC, and KCPS to provide Lincoln with a $250,000 “Grassroots grant” to build a new football field at Lincoln that sits near the site of Municipal Stadium from 1963-71.
